About Me

I go by Sinclair-Speccy online, a name inspired by the ZX Spectrum and its popular nickname, “Speccy.” You may also see me using Speccy, Sinclair, Altair, Sinco or Alphonse in different places. Some other nicknames exist but theseare the main ones.

I’m not particularly good at writing “about me” pages so what you see here is my best attempt at organising a messy brain into something readable.

I keep my real name, location and other personal details private as I don’t feel they’re important to share publicly. Sometimes I wish I could contribute more to the internet beyond moderating spaces on Reddit or Discord, but I do what I can.

In my spare time when the mood strikes, I enjoy exploring older operating systems using emulators like 86Box, VirtualBox and QEMU. This interest started in two ways, one being Tech Gijinkas and another was when I first managed to get Yggdrasil Linux from the 1990s running, thus it quickly turned into a fascination with retro computing.

My main setup is an MSI gaming PC that dual-boots Windows 10 and Fedora Linux.

This site originally began as a simple place to share files from my external hard drive which is mostly ISO images I’ve collected over the years. While I initially considered hosting them directly, I later decided against it since this is a static site. Instead, the site gradually evolved into a personal archive of guides, reviews and general content.

Technology will always have a special place in my heart (especially vintage technology) even though I wasn’t around when much of it was first released.

The design of this site started as simple HTML when I was relearning it after first studying it in 2018. A major redesign began in June 2022 to make guides and reviews more readable, followed by another redesign in 2026 to clean up the layout and file structure.
