Character
Byt-8-kun wears a black (#171715) and silver (#aaaaaf) old-fashioned shop owner outfit. It is unknown whether Byt-8-kun had any family members or relatives unless you count the Exidy Sorcerer or the Cromemcos, but he did have various friends who were other microcomputer kits. It is not known how he became a computer but many theories suspect that he was just an employee at a computer shop that simply wanted to be initiated after being inspired by Altair 8800-tan and Apple I-tan.
He runs a store known as the “Byte Bazaar" where he assembles and sells microcomputer kits and other hardware.
Family and Relationships
Altair 8080-tan and Apple I-tan
Tespite the myth about him meeting Apple I and Altair 8800, this is not true.
Exidy Sorcerer-tan
Exidy Sorcerer-tan is sort of the non-blood member to Byt-8-kun although it is unknown whether they ever met as she is a distant relative.
References and sources
- His old fashioned black and silver outfit is a reference to how the Byt-8 has various designs that vary, including a variation of Byt-8 with coloured switches on front panel like an Altair, the usual version of the Byt-8 that tends to pop up when looking for the Byt-8 which only has one switch and a version of the Byt-8 but with more black on the front and has grey switches
- Exidy Sorcerer being the distant relative to him is a reference to how Paul Terrell made the The Byte Shop, but ended up selling the Byte Store chain and suggested to the coin-operated video game company Exidy, Inc to design and build the Exidy Sorcerer.
- Him meeting Apple I-tan and Altair 8800 was a mistake during my original research as the Byt-8 is from around 1977 whereas the Apple I is from 1976 and the Altair is from 1974.
- The Cromemcos being his "family" is a reference to how the S-100 CPU, RAM and I/O boards were made by Cromemco.
